Camera section: Does it make any sense leaving white balance on auto when shooting RAW?

Sure, that's exactly what I do.  I've never taken my camera off of AWB.  Were there times when I should have done so?  Well...I suppose, but I'm always shooting RAW and I also use an X-Rite Color Checker Passport, too.  Since I'm not doing things on a professional level and time isn't an issue, I'm not concerned if I have to adjust color temp in post.  Often for it's usually a process of editing the first image and then applying the same color corrections to the other images which is done pretty much in a few seconds within Lightroom.

Since RAW files do not have any color correction applied before the file is written to the memory card, it really doesn't matter what your white balance was set at since you always perfectly color correct any RAW file.  If, on the other hand, you were shooting JPEGs, then my answer would have been totally different since JPEGs can't be color corrected anywhere near the extent a RAW image can.  So if your AWB is too far off with a JPEG, then that JPEG is pretty much hosed.
