No, too harsh in most cases. Only the violent or big money crimes should get prison.. Save the $ wasted on prisons for Covid research, for schools, fix roads Some states get $100K per inmate Fed money, so new laws are written and over enforced to get $ for state revenues.

It's getting Belter. 4% of those on death row are released ever year due to DNA evidence, not available until relatively recently. Murdering cops are brought to light and soon fired or indicted, not just shuffled off to a different precinct and "hidden".. Those banks that invest in private prisons are posted.

Too harsh in some areas to lenient in others.
It’s much more lenient in female criminals than make criminals for example, yet we also incarcerate people at great expense who are little threat.
