Can intake manifold gasket affect thermostat? ?

I ask because I had a Mercedes mechanic run a diagnostic on my vehicle after Autozone told me my check engine light came back with a code for thermostat. Diagnostic test was complete and they said it was the intake manifold gasket.

I wouldn't trust a parts salesperson to diagnose my vehicle. If the intake manifold is letting air get into the cooling system it's possible a cheap code reader could pick that code as "the problem". A Mercedes mechanic likely knows the common problems your motor has and should be able to explain why he diagnosed the intake manifold as the problem.

If the gasket is bad, you will be losing coolant.

If only the thermostat is bad, you will not be losing coolant.

yep, if it lets enough pressure OUT of the water so the water can't push open the thermostat .........................
