Loathing is forced. Fear is only the inevitable result when faith is abandoned.
Faced with vicious dog and a club in my hand it is my faith that enables me to stand my ground.
Take the club away and my faith quickly turns to fear.
In either case the dog will never respect me until I discipline it. Which I can do without causing it to loathe me.

Hope that helps.

That's not true. Fear isn't forced. It's the natural reaction to something that we feel is a threat to us.

Respect can be either learned or earned.
The modern notion of respect has become muddled as a result of adolescent rebelliousness being seen as "cool" rather than immature . There is "Due Respect" in which you need to show deference in order to make progress, then there is respect which is earned by appreciation and admiration of one's efforts by others. There is also "Mutual Respect".
