Is Columbus Day still an official holiday in the US?

I think it is                

Columbus is the man who put America on the map. That is why he is celebrated. Maybe other people got there first, but they should have taken the info back to Europe and drawn a map if they wanted to get famous. 

Little katya, Columbus did NOT discover the new world. Leif Erikson was in Nova Scotia 500 years before Columbus was even born. AND, he did NOT set foot on the N.American continent. FACT. AND, little jimmy, maps WERE made and brought back to Europe. It was KNOWN the New World existed and WAS visited AND colonized by Europeans over 500 years before Columbus was born. Columbus was a come lately. AND, he NEVER SET FOOT on the N. American continent. Numpty.

Yes it is still observed as a National Holiday.  Only the liberal States are changing it to "Indigenous People's Day" which has nothing to do with Columbus discovering the new world or Italian immigration both of these reasons is why it is celebrated.  The left States want to change it just like Socialist regimes in Latin America have done so as well:  many Latin Socialist governed countries have re-named their Columbus Day as with the Sandinista government changed it to: “Day of Indigenous Black & Popular Resistance” – Hugo Chavez of Venezuela changed it to “Day of the Indigenous Resistance”. Labeling Western civilization as the oppressive monster.

Define "official".  Post office and most other federal government buildings are closed in observance of the day,  But beyond that I do not know of any businesses that give their people time off or anything.
