Could we have gotten in trouble for this?

I live in Montana. I’m not worried about anything happening now because too much time has passed, but I am wondering in this situation if either of us could have gotten in trouble.

Back when I was 18 (I’m 29 now), I stopped at a friend’s house before we had our graduation party and his parents let me have a beer. In this situation, no cops showed up, I did not get into an accident or cause any damages, everybody left the gathering just fine and our all night party went off without a problem at all.

Could I have gotten in trouble for this at the time? If so, what would it have taken? Would the police have had to see this happening? Could somebody have reported it after the fact and got us in trouble?

Pretty save assumption that back in 2009 Montana had a legal drinking age of 21.   That said, your friends parents could have been libel for any issues you guys caused having provided the alcohol to "under age" drinkers.

Someone would have had to call the cops, which would have had to observe or find proof of your consuption in order to charge the parents with anything.

You guys could have been charged with under aged drinking.... at 18 old enough to know the law.

    Hope this helps.
