I am thinking about having a female pet?

Preferably a female cat. I've never ended up with the women in the past who I had a crush on, and I think that this is a nice break from that for the time being. I might even prefer this over having an actual girlfriend XD

Plus, it's refreshing for me...as I've never had a pet before and this will be my very first one.

What do you think?I asked this question before and most people said no, but I'm bringing it up again.

Update:

I am well aware that the can't won't be my girlfriend. Use common sense when answering please, lol.

Doting on a pet can be a nice distraction from emotional pain. So long as you don't mistake this cat for a girlfriend it'll be fine.

    Very "strange"

I've been rejected for most of my life, and now that I'm nearing 30...if I were to have a cat with me(as a companion...NOT a girlfriend), that's good enough for me.

That's similar to thinking that someone is strange because they're not single by choice! HA!

There is nothing wrong with having a female or male pet (I have both and have had many of both), and females are often a bit different from males so there are possible good reasons to want one over the other, but the reason for doing this sure seems very strange to me. A cat won't be your girlfriend.
