which is more handy in gardening? small mattock or small pick axe?

among small sized mattock & pick axe which is more useful in small garden & farming?

    For gardening? Definitely a mattock.

    In your photos, technically those are both mattocks.

    In a mattock, one side is either a narrow chisel point or a narrow vertical "axe" point.  The other is a horizontal adze point.
