Anxiety relief!?

Hi, i have anxiety and i was just curious as to what others use as coping strategies? Deep breathing helps me a lot, and so does reading about anxiety. Like they say, Knowledge is power. Looking forward to reading your replies.

As you say, breathing can be very helpful. The point I want to make about this is that use of your breathing to get calm is not just something you can use when you're feeling terrible. If you stay in touch with your feelings and notice all the times in the day that your mood shifts, including the times when you're irritated but not very upset, it can keep your mood on track throughout the day.

People everywhere are learning mindfulness meditation, and this gives people a way to relax for a few minutes and also a way to be more aware of all the mood shifts they have during the day. Mindfulness apps have become very popular.

Psychiatrists Brown and Gerbarg, who have published 6 papers on breathing and mental health, recommend a 3-part program of mind-body methods - breathing, meditation, and slow body movement. Incorporate these into your daily life. Be aware of changes in mood and respond mindfully, aware of your breathing. Details here

Other things take some effort but they're very rewarding - things that make your life meaningful, like a good hobby, art, or volunteer work. Take care of your health with the right lifestyle choices.

  • Hi there! So I have 3 different anxiety disorders : generalized anxiety, social anxiety and health anxiety. Luckily over the last few years, I'm finally getting better but slowly. I got a job as a courtesy clerk this past year and everyone I work with as well as all the customers really make me feel comfortable and liked a lot which is helping me a lot with the social anxiety. For my generalized anxiety, some coping skills I use are to list what I'm worried or anxious over and seeing it in front of me helps me to rationalize it and see that there's probably nothing to worry over. Like some days I have so much anxiety over small things like taking a quick shower or doing one load of laundry. But I always try my best and though sometimes it's tiring and difficult, at least I got it done though it wasn't done that well, I tried.

Sex, nicotine, vaping, CBD, CBT, DBT, THC, cutting out toxic/negative people & circumstance, Grounding, ACT, Tapping/EFT, Hypnotherapy, needs based therapy, spirituality, BDSM/SM, masturbation, music, meditation, psychotherapy, assigned tasks; work or chore (directed distraction)......

It all depends 100% on you.  Anyone who answered this question directly is pretty much full of sh*t.  Asking 3 sentence questions with no history, patterns, specifics, details or general information - we really can not help.  Your gender and general age matters a lot.  though you can google those things.  I'd reccomend them and suggest them if you were a friend or here.  But without a lot more info it has to be that vague.

My pets are a big anxiety reliever for me. I notice after spending time with them that I'm less stressed and in a better mood for the day.
