Most Egyptian deities represent natural or social phenomena. The gods were generally said to be immanent in these phenomena—to be present within nature.

The guy is obviously settling down to "lay a cable" in a clearing in the reeds by the banks of the river Nile. He holds in his hands the "Toilet Scythe", the special tool that Egyptian common-folk used to clear their "Dropping Space" in the reeds and, of course, he's wearing the traditional "Warning Hat", painted bright red in real life to warn off other people in case they interrupt him, he halves it, and has a messy finish. Hope this helped.
