'Trump not ready to accept the defeat & still wants to cling to power' - Does it expose the brittleness of American Democracy?

Is the American Democracy so brittle as to allow a defeated candidate to continue in power?

If it ever happens, is this a Democracy?

The U.S. is not alone in having an occasionally rocky transition period.  In fact, the strong two party system actually tend to ease the problem.  In multi-party countries, it can take months to form a government.

Trump causes problems for the American political system because he is a reality show host rather than a politician.  As a result, he frequently displays the fact that he really does not know or understand the laws that dictate the proper procedure to be followed.  Additionally, because he has not been part of the system, he is has not internalized the "norms" that help keep things civil.  One of those norms is that you do not complain about "fraud" or elections being "rigged" unless you have actual evidence.  Another is that the loser of the election is gracious and congratulates the winner.

So Trump is going to file a bunch of frivolous cases (so far he is batting about .050 with his wins being minor procedural changes that impact less than 1,000 ballots in a state that he lost be 60,000 votes) and lose them.  But on January 6, regardless of what he wants, Congress is going to count the electoral votes and, when Joe Biden has 300-306 electoral votes, certify Joe Biden as the president elect.  Then, on January 20, Joe Biden will take the oath of office and become President.  All of Trump's whining will not change that fact and, if he refuses to go, he will be gently escorted out of the White House.

OMFG.  Read after me:  NOON, on January 20th, of the FOLLOWING year.

Now repeat that about a hundred times or more, if necessary...until it sinks in.

If Trump steps down IMMEDIATELY (as about 70 million people want him to do), it won't be BIDEN who replaces him.  Biden does not have the authority to be president until NOON on January 20th.  Even then, he doesn't have the authority to perform any presidential duties until after he is sworn in.

All you idiots accusing Trump of "clinging to power" apparently want PENCE to take over.  No matter how much you wish for it to happen, BIDEN does not have any authority.  I have just as much power as Biden does, at the moment.  NEITHER ONE OF US IS PRESIDENT!!!  And if Trump stepped down now, neither Biden NOR I would be president.  Sheesh...

The person in Office now has no shame. He never felt shame, did he? We got a good look at him when he was talking about grabbing women by the pu**y.  How could I vote for such a person? Can't wait until the garbage collectors arrive at the big house come mid-January. I have no doubts at all who will represent us then. He will ensure this Democracy continues.

My President has been railroaded by Democrats ever since he campaigned in 2016.  A Million MAGA March just proved extensive support for him and a great QUESTION about illegal ballots for Joe Biden.

Just because this whiny man-baby is having a tantrum doesn't mean that democracy is dead.  He certainly wants to kill it, but he's far outnumbered by those who oppose his antics, and we won't let him get away with it.

You have to understand who and what Trump is--previously he's always been allowed to get away with all manner of mischief because he could buy, bully or bullsh!t his way out of any and all opposition.  But now, for the first time in his life he's up against something that he can't weasel out of, and he can't comprehend it.  So he 's lashing out.  But this only makes him appear more embarrassingly pathetic and impotent.  His fall will not be graceful, he'll try to break as much stuff around him as he can, but he WILL fall, and the vile core of his support will crawl back under its rock and hide.  He will be gone and we will go on.
