Best side not to win something?
Aces got me thinking on the 82 Brazil team, so 2 questions. Who are the best international side not to win something? And who is the best club side not to win something? By team, I mean teams like the 82 Brazil, 54 Hungary, 95/96 Newcastle etc
Fuzzy i forgot about that side. Also to finish off, Germany were runners up in the world cup that year and (according to wiki) Leverkusen provided more players for Germany than any other club

Bayer Leverkusen 2001-02, could have won a treble but lost the title on the last day, lost the CL final to Real Madrid narrowly and then lost the Pokal final to Hertha, worst month a club has endured in football history

I'd argue we were unfortunate in the 2018 World Cup not to have progressed to the final.
Whether we were the 'best' side not to win tha tournament, im sure the Croatians would hve a thing or to say about that.
Arsenal 1998-99
were also in contention to do a treble, were in contention to win Premier League that year, FA Cup and Champions League.
They were pipped by United in cruel fashion to lose out on the title that year and Giggs insane run and goal that dumped them out of the fa cup and i forget what happened to them in the CL.
having said that, United scraped that treble no doubt about it they desreved it you make your own luck end of the day but omg the pain of missing out on everything and not winning at least one trophy that year must have been painful for the gooners.
The rivalry was super intense beween Arsenal and Manchester united from 1997-98 (Arsenals Premier League and FA Cup double season) to 1998-99 ( Uniteds treble season) 1999-00 ( United unstoppable romped to the title winning the title by an insane number of points with nobody remotely touching them that year) 2000-01 (United winning it again).
Arsenal would wait 3 years before winning it again in 2001-02, a season in which we finished above United as runners up to Arsenal!
following year Ruud Van Nistleroy was unstoppable for united as they clinched the 2002-03 epl title
but that just made Arsenal more hungry and boy did they come back with some apetite - winning the title the following season in 2003-04 as invincibles!
I'd say Arsenal have been very unfortunate in losing out on the title on two occasions to United.
Also We were unlucky in 2018-19 to lose the prem to City by 1 point, our 97 points to their 98. fecking hell man how close was that ?
