Why aren't the "big box" stores , ( like Home Depot , Target , and Walmart ) ,  investing profits to establish  help  for the unemployed ?

It seems curious that while these Companies enjoy unprecedented PROFITS in their Business during ( and because of the Pandemic) , that they choose ONLY to raise the pay of THEIR employees , and demand that the Government should be helping the unemployed , struggling businesses and the poor . Shouldn't THEY be doing what they are asking someone else to do as well ?
