Should FIFA Allow 5 substitutes as a normal rule?

Football is playing under a tense schedule because of COVID. Rest day is only three days because of a compressed schedule but thankfully.....5 subs are allowed. However I do think that when normal times resume (Aug - May Sched), the 5 sub rule for the COVID sched should be implemented. It's just that more players have the chance to play and players won't be too tired if the Champions League game is three days next. Imagine Atletico playing Real Madrid THEN Bayern in a span of 3 days.

I think it's a good rule from my side.

Because during this covid pandemic the FIFA change the rule slightly. Will expect to continue the rule forever.

Absolutely.  It doesn’t matter how much money players earn, they can only do what their bodies can, and if they are coming down with injuries due to this hectic schedule, then more substitutions makes more sense.

I know it sounds like it favours the clubs with larger squads, but surely it favours those with smaller squads too. They can make more substitutions, to prevent more injuries to players, and then prevent their squads being stretched.

    I think so yes.

I disagree that 5 subs would favor big clubs.

5 subs could also favor the underdog on match day,  allowing a bigger window for tactical strategy by the manager to counter a superior side.

It just favours the big clubs who can bring on 5 internationals.

PL had only 3 at the moment due to mainly Sheff Utd pointing this fact out .

  • The more I think about it, the more I like it.  5 subs from 11 players is just under half.

Yeah 5 subs is for both teams so you can just bring 5 fresh 7ft defenders or have an emergency slot in case of injuries if you want idk what they’re complaining about it helps everyone

No; three is plenty. Too many rule changes already are ruining the game.

No. This is the big clubs whining as the extra subs give them an extra advantage as they have more quality fresh players to change the game. 5 subs would be a disgrace to the smaller sides. Basically the bigger the budget the bigger the advantage. Being able to change half of your outfield players is not right.
