What would i major in to be a midwife?

A midwife is a nurse with additional training in women's health, maternal care, and neonatal care.  You need to first obtain a nursing degree, but then you must also obtain a graduate degree in nursing in order to be a Certified Nurse Midwife.  

A minor is not necessary.  Some nursing programs don't even allow them, while others do.  A lot of our nursing students minor in psychology because 3 psychology courses are already required for their nursing degree, and only 2 more classes are needed for the minor.

Just to add to MS correct answer.  You can not minor in nursing.  If being a mid wife is your goal you need to see how you can get into the nursing program ASAP. 

You need a minimum of BSN - bachelor's in nursing - to apply for admission to graduate programs in midwifery. Midwifery is not accepted, not eligible for licensing or working, in most states. Nursing students do not have minors as the curriculum is pretty much set. You'll have to get into the nursing program & earn your BSN if you want to pursue midwifery.

The answer given by MS is correct.  The requirements to be a nurse-midwife vary somewhat from state to state, so you would want to check with your state board of nursing to get the exact details for your area.
