When car shopping, is it best doing it on Facebook Marketplace or going to car dealerships? ?
I'm looking for a new vehicle and this is my first time car shopping myself. I'm looking for a used car for $5,000 or less. I'm willing to go to $6,000 but that is only if I'm madly in love with it that I can't pass it up.
I was wondering if it is better to go car shopping via Facebook or just go to my local dealerships?
Shows a lot you know @anonymous. Just because you are finding it online doesn't mean you automatically buy it. You still schedule a meet up to look at the vehicle and test drive it. It's basically a new form of what the newspaper used to do. I was more asking if the people are more trustworthy than dealerships. Way to make yourself look stupid!

Its always important to buy cars without seeing them and driving them in person. SMH

Local dealers or local individuals are better. Too many scammers use on line sites to try to unload junk.

Start by looking at Autotrader. That way you can search for the car you want or browse on make, price and distance you are prepared to travel. Look for low miles and service history. There are many useful facilities on that site and they also rate the asking price. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/used-cars

wow you have absolutely no idea what you're doing. you need like 30 more IQ points at least in order to get a good car in good condition and get the most value out of your money. you're obviously going to find a car one way or another but you're going to overpay and get the wrong type of car and it's probably not going to be reliable or be in good overall mechanical condition, and you're going to overpay on repairs when it breaks instead of doing things yourself. good luck in life. try to find a boyfriend who is way smarter than you.

I would use autotrader to autotempest or even craigslist to look for a car because there are Way more cars on those sites and you can find a better deal. - 5 months ago
You can start online, but you will have to go to car dealerships if you want to find all of the options available, because there will always be vehicles that aren't online, vehicles that just came into the yard. And there's no substitute for looking at the actual car, checking its condition, and giving it a test drive.If you can, bring someone who is knowlegeable about cars and what to look for. Don't be pressured into a quick decision. Enjoy finding your car, and good luck.
