When all or part of the meniscus is removed, the cartilage at the ends of the femur and tibia grind together and cause inflammation and soreness.  This won't change until the meniscus regrows.  Meniscus regrowth is limited and very slow, and sometimes it doesn't regrow at all.  The only thing thing you can do to limit the pain is avoid activities that seems to cause the pain, and do a lot of straight leg raises to build up the quadriceps muscles.

My continuing pain after knee surgery was an infection that prompted 2 additional surgeries, and several months of intravenous antibiotics. The continuing pain could be your warning. Lack of sufficient medical follow-up to your knee surgery could cost you your leg. Suggest your orthopedic surgeon either see you, or give your a referral to another practice.
