Why is this installation not activated?

I installed Windows 7 with a self activating disc. When I checked the system settings, it said that it was activated. From that installation, I upgraded to Windows 10. That was also activated.

I decided that I still had use for W7, so I partitioned the hard drive, and installed the same W7 disc on the new space. However, now it says that this W7 is not activated. I tried entering the product key that came with it, but it didn't work.

Is one of the installations from the first partition affecting this? If not, what else could it be?

you cannot reuse a Win7 key AGAIN, when it is already in use for activating Win10. it is against activation rules. blame Microsoft. but did you really expect to get something for nothing? what did you think you were activating Win10 with?
