Is it possible to get a temp tag online, or from a dealership?
I am trying to buy a car from someone (private seller) and the NJ MVC is only allowing appointments from any vehicle related matters. Earliest appt, next month.
I didn't think the DMV(MVC in NJ) could get any worse..

The official MVC website has a vehicle registration box. Click on it & pay your fees. Why wait a month? Do it on line & relax.

Try their website. If you can't get a date until next month I think they have to drop the penalties for not doing what you can't do.
In other words, if you buy now and the earliest is in a month, go in a month and you should be ok if caught in between. If you blow it off for 3 months you will NOT be ok.
In my state, new car dealers can issue tags for brand new cars as a service. Not for any used car. Drive out tags are not legal tags.
