When you put baking soda in your fridge can it purify the inside of your refrigerator?

I have an old fridge and I cleaned the outside and I want to make sure it is purified inside the places I can't reach.  Can baking soda help purify.  I also would like the opinion of someone who has been putting baking soda in the fridge for years, does it ruin the milk and eggs...?

Baking soda in a box placed in your fridge absorbs odors. It doesn't purify anything. If you're really concerned, spray some disinfectant cleaner in the places you can't reach and leave the door open for it to dry. Baking soda does not ruin your milk or eggs.

just put an open box  of baking soda in the fridge .it absorbs odours  and ya change  box now and then ..i have never left in the fridge for years ..but i doubt it turns milk and eggs off ,it only takes up smells of  cooked foods that can smell

It helps overall but even baking soda needs periodic replacing.

It just absorbs stink. And yes, it expires.
