Stimulus Check for Dependents?

I have three children, currently ages 17, 15, and 5. The oldest turned 17 in August of this year. Will I receive the $500 stimulus check for him since it will go based off of 2019’s tax return, or since he is currently 17, will I not receive it?

If it works the same as the first round (which I assume it will), the IRS will look back at your most recent tax return and issue the stimulus payment based on that info. So you should probably wait to file your 2020 tax return until after you receive your stimulus just to make sure.

The IRS did have an FAQ page on their website that addressed this for the first round and said that people who receive too much on their stimulus do NOT have to repay it, so if you get the extra $600 for the 17 year old based on 2019 return you do not have to repay it.
