Is this a normal amount of carbon build up for a 14 yr old almost 200k mile turbo engine?

2006 Saab 9-3 2.0T. Wondering if my engine was replaced or maybe alot of highway miles?

pictured is top of piston through spark plug hole. Crosshatching is still visible on cylinder walls.

todays fuels are so clean that its extremely rare to have a build up ..go back to my time ..i started driving in early sixties ..you had to decoke an engine circa every 15.000 miles ...nothing wrong with top of your pistons

Carbon on a piston has no bad effect at all. In fact it helps to provide good compression by sealing at the circumference. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.
