A little town trying to be a big city.

Good thing is, Austin is more liberal than much of Texas. Ignorance in many conservatives irks me.

One of the most boring places to live or visit in th US. It may not have income taxes and votes democratic, but has no culture. Its Downtown has been decimated, it's deserted, no historic buildings, you find either a parking lot or a parking garage, and now new ugly condos are going up to house the new folks coming in (for what?, I wonder). There is literally nothing to do. And no, eating out and driking out are not cultural activities. Just one museum. Seriously?

It touts itself as being funky and weird, but it's not. The city is perpetuating that silly myth, long gone. It used to be in the 80s and 90s, but that has disappeared; it has become Williamsburgh, Brooklyn catering to rich millennials. Artists have been priced out and have left for cheaper communities in the surrounding areas. Everything is expensive becuase businesses are sparse and spread out: there is no business competition as you find in LA, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, hence prices are high.

The river, the creeks and hiking trails are the only saving attributes. Austin is your typical "velvet coffin", Google that. You are better off going to San Antonio, Dallas-Ft. Worth. Those are real cities.

Austin is capital city of Texas, an inland city bordering the hill country region. Famous for University of Texas. Austin is also known for its eclectic live-music scene centered around country, blues and rock. Its many parks and lakes are popular for hiking, biking, swimming and boating.
