can I press charges for being threatened with illegal force?

my friend is black and was outside my house close to my neighbor's property. he was on our property still but just close tom theirs. the neighbors texted my parents saying something like.. we wouldn't wanna see someone get shot for trespassing.. or something like that. can I press charges for them communicating a threat in this way? as simply standing on my neighbor's lawn is not a threat to him at all.. he would be using deadly force with no reason except for trespassing which is very illegal right? . the neighbor is constantly drunk and shoots his gun randomly often. he always hangs out outside in his shed which happens to be right next to our property., so can I press charges for someone telling me "we wouldn't wanna see someone get shot for trespassing" and they also called my friends the n word in the text showing the hate in them.. i don't feel safe with my drunk gun-wielding neighbor ready to shoot someone all the time. like my dog could have wandered over and my friend coulda went to get him and someone could wind up hurt.. not to mention they shot a neighbors cow before.. and drinks constantly.  so im sure he is crazy enough to shoot my dog or a trespasser.
