Autism and touch sensory? ?
I know that one of the traits of Autism is sensory sensitivity, or at least it's a common known one. Can they change over time? Can they change suddenly? For example I'm a late diagnosed Autistic but I've always been picky about my clothing and the way it feels against my skin. I used to hate with a passion when my socks got between my toes, didn't matter the fabric, now it's only a mild annoyence when it happens. Or I used to be able to wear jeans as long as they weren't too tight but now the fabric of jeans I can't stand. Like when I have to wear them I want to claw my skin off and I become very agitated and moody. I've heard that noises, lights are a big trait of Autism but can clothes, clothes that you used to love but now hate be another comon trait too?

I'm autistic and my sensory processing problems have got worse with age. I actually used to go clubbing when I was young but now I'm in my forties I need to wear ear defenders to cope with traffic noises. Some autistic symptoms do get worse with age as we no longer have the energy to fight everything, we were discussing it in an autism facebook group I'm a member of just the other day.

Yeah, I have this. Some days it's worse than others. It's not consistent. I think it might be hormone-related (for women, because of menstruation cycles). Some days I can wear a pair of jeans and not be bothered, a different day the seam of the jeans hits my ankle bone in a weird way and feels unbearable and I must rip them off or I spend all day bothered about it. Same with tags, or things made of lace. I want to scratch my skin off. In the mornings, I find loud noises or bright lights painful but after a few hours and 2 cups of coffee, it's bearable.

Oh, that is certain they can and often do change. Your hypersensitivity to certain textures usually decreases with age and that is even if u were to have no interventional therapy.
