Should you avoid looking at cars for sale on FB/CL that have those fake Texas paper plates? ?

I'm wondering if it is a red flag for something. Why do people get these?

No idea what you are talking about. Of course, I don't look for cars on FB/CL.

A decorative "plate" on the front, in a state that doesn't require a front plate, is okay (however, Texas is not one of those states). It just means the owner is too proud that he comes from Texas.

Temporary tags are another story. You should prefer that the car has current tags, and is registered to the seller, at that address.
