It matters to me.  I only buy Goodyear.

Yes. For many reasons, and some have nothing to do with the quality of the tire.

I have no idea what a tyre is.................  My car has 4 tires.......if that's what you mean.

Brand no, better the quality of tyres the more peace of mind. Price over safety, or safety over price is probably what you need to consider.

yes , you pay more for longer lasting tires , better grip in the wet , different speeds you drive at after all tires have different speed ratings . most cars are radial tires while some are cross play , so there made differently .and of course if there tube or tubeless . then theres road comfort .

It matters what quality tires you put on your car. Any brand may offer sufficient quality of tires.

A recent test I saw , had one brand of cheap Chinese tyres with a wet braking distance ( from 60 mph , I think ) , 28m LONGER than the best tyre. That’s the difference between no crash at all and death. Your money, your life.

Most tyres are ok for dry braking but it’s in the wet the decent tyres earn their money.

It’s very complacent to say, “ any old tyre is find for 40 mph commute. “ NO ONE ever keeps their speed below 40 mph all the time. In any case , an accident at 40mph is pretty serious.

It’s worth saying, all these  tests are done in new tyres with typically 8mm of tread. Buying premium tyres but keeping them when the tread is 2mm is just as bad as buying crap tyres.

Yes it does. Some tires are real junk. Ford dealer put tires from China that in bulk cost $18 on the used car my wife bought. Junk, junk, junk.

Yes it does. It also matters if you pick a brand and then buy the cheapest tires thy make or if you pay more for a better handling tire. Goon the tire rack website and put your vehicle or tire size into the search box and read about the tires that are available. There are also reviews of what other buyers have experienced while driving on each tire. You don't have to buy from tire rack but they have many good brands and tread patterns to read about.

It depends on how you drive your car. A better brand provides superior grip and that's important for high-speed driving or if you value the lives of your children.
