Caddo River won the $150,000 Smarty Jones by 10 1/4 lengths and picked up 10 points for the Kentucky Derby.
Caddo River was making his first start against winners and his first start at two turns, and he moved to the lead soon after the start.
He never gave up the position, setting fractions of 23.12 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.16 for the half-mile, and 1:12.42 for six furlongs.
The race ended at the sixteenth pole, and Caddo River covered the distance on a fast track in 1:38.19.
Florent Geroux was aboard the winner for trainer Brad Cox.

I saw that race and was very impressed! Caddo River will be on my watch list! Brad Cox has been doing very well lately!

Caddo River in a word "OUTSTANDING!" I often find my Derby Horse in the Florida Derby, which is on March 27 this year. Curious if Caddo River will be one of the contenders. He's a Hard Spun colt which is also a plus, very promising. Nice connections too. I read about his name, and how the Caddo River flows freely. That sounds about right! Definitely, looking forward to Caddo River's next race.
