Why do survival knives exist?

Hunters, hikers, campers. Really, anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors could probably get a lot of use out of a good knife.

It's good to have if you're out in the woods and, say, need to cut some firewood, or skin an animal, or need something to help start a campfire.

Most people aren't "surviving" when they're out roughing it these days, but if someone did happen to find themselves in a bad situation, it can be the difference between survival and, well... not.

I would say most do it for decorative and collection purposes. But there are still a lot of people in some areas that do go hunting and it could come in handy for that. Also there's some people that like to go camping.
