Would it be dumb to buy a pre-owned luxury car while working a minimum wage job?

Want to buy a pre-owned Lexus is300 and found some under $30k. I do have about 50k in savings so i would still be left with $20k. I really want a nicer car to show off to my coworkers.

EVERY part costs twice as much so it's a money pit you can't afford.

Poor people always want to ACT rich yet the lack the money

Yes, pretty dumb I'm afraid.  My mate bought a Bentley Continental and the cost of maintenance was horrendous.

The initial cost of the car was very inviting, but he soon realised it was a money pit and the engine required removal for various parts replacement. I can't remember exactly what those parts were. May have been a starting motor or something like that.

DUMB? No, the appropriate term would be MORONIC. Stick with plain jane, ultra-reliable Honda or Toyota and invest the savings in something that will earn money for you, not cost you thousands in depreciation and maintenance.

Some people would say that buying any new car is 'dumb'

Some people would say that buying a luxury car is 'dumb'

Some would say that buying any car is 'dumb' when you are working for minimum wage.

Having said all that , you must have done a lot of good things to have saved $50k, so you deserve to use it to make yourself happy.

I will point out that in a couple of years, your Lexus is not going to be nearly as impressive as it is when you show your coworkers for the first time.
