Should the age of majority in Mississippi be lowered to 18? ?

Hey guys, I’m 18 and male. I reside in Mississippi  where the age of majority is 21. I am ready to become an adult! I can’t even wait another 3 years to become 21 (an adult hence the age of majority). I kinda wish it was lowered down to 18. Do you guys agree?

No no no no and hell no! It should be 21 in EVERY place on earth, with NO exceptions. 18 is still a teen and not even out of primary school!

KISS the ground you don't have to worry about working, moving out, a miserable job, and falling into poverty which will happen because of your developing brain. When you are 21, you are mentally an adult, which is why throughout history 21 has been the legally accepted age of adulthood.

It should be 21 everywhere, in my opinion. Most people don’t seem to realize this, but the age of majority being 18 is NOT based on any scientific studies - it was implemented for one reason only, and that was so 18 year olds could be drafted in the Vietnam War. The vast majority of 18-20 year olds are not ready to move out and live on their own, especially given how difficult it is to get an entry-level job in today’s economy.

It's already 18 in Mississippi. The only time 21 comes into play is when it involves payment of child support.  If court-ordered child support is being paid for a child, it is paid until the age of 21.  That affects only the paying parent and the custodial parent.  The child does not receive direct payment and this has ZERO to do with the rights and responsibilities of the child. You are an adult at 18.

The only US state where the age of majority is not 18 is Alabama, at 19.

The major reason the age is 18 in most states, is because of the military draft. The logic was, if I'm old enough to die for my country, then I should be allowed to vote, marry, buy a house, sue and be sued, etc. The chance of dying was very real during the Vietnam War.

But nobody has been drafted in the U.S. since 1972. We should be able to reconsider the age of majority, using new logic and facts. There are strong arguments to go back to the old standard of age 21.

considering our brains aren't fully developed until age 25, the cutoff should be 25 everywhere.
