eBay doesn't pay you. The buyer pays you. eBay no longer allows payment by check or money order. eBay requires an electronic form of payment - which can be reversed in the case of seller misconduct, for the protection of the buyer. Under the old system, once the seller had the buyer's money, there was no way for eBay to force the seller to ship the item or issue refunds.
As a seller you can accept Paypal, another electronic payment system of your choice, or credit cards. The payment system sends you the money electronically (or by paper check in the mail, which is much slower) minus their fee, which is approximately 3% of the total payment. eBay will bill you for the final value fees and will require an electronic way to take the money from you, by charging it to your credit card or a direct withdrawal from your bank account. If you do not give eBay permission to take funds from you electronically, eBay will not let you sell.
