Yes he can. In the same way that a stupid woman can buy a cup of coffee, spill it into her crotch-due to her OWN fault, and sue the coffee seller for making it too hot.

Can he actually sue you? Yes, he can. Can he win? Probably not in the USA. Photos become public property when posted UNLESS they are copyrighted. If his argument is defamation, yes, he could win. There is case law on almost this same thing in MY State. The Court ruled that reposting the photo was legal. Turning it into a defamatory emoji was not legal.

Not successfully in the U.S. He was essentially appearing in public. You were editorializing using satire. Both are specifically protected under the copyright act of 1978.
His only potential complaint might be defamation of character but that would be a seriously difficult case to even get a court to consider.

Nope, images are in the public domain that are posted by others. The only way you could be liable is if you made money from it.
