Can positive reinforcement / created beliefs be used for social anxiety ?

Hi, I’ve been taking SSRIS for the past 4 years (on and off) and this has happened to me a few times and I’m wondering if I can put it into practice , to be quite honest it will sound silly, but today I woke up, and simply , I don’t remember what caused it , but I just told myself “meh I don’t care” not in a Sad way, but just forced myself and repeated in my head that I don’t care and that I’m not worried at all about being outside ... and it worked GREAT actually I had an amazing relaxing walk with my dog and he was much calmer , and this out into perspective how I thought even on days I felt normal actually I was anxious/ stressed and I didn’t know it, and I’m astounded at how just telling yourself something / forcing a belief has an impact.

Is there a way to get deeper into this? Like for example having like let’s say a “mantra” every night before bed and just repeating something like “I’m not socially anxious I’m confident” or “just relax nothing to worry about” 100s of times would this have a greater effect ? I’ll try this out but I’m curious about other peoples experiences ! This mixed with cold water should be great :)

You can use mantras at any time of day & you can repeat them all day long.  You could use the Serenity Prayer to keep things on an even keel.  Learn what you can & cannot change & the wisdom to know what you can change or accept cause you can't change it.

There are lots of mantras you can use online or just the ones you make up.

Yes, positive reinforcement can help but let's talk about what this is. Positive reinforcement is anything that makes a desired behavior more likely. If you get a good feeling about a social interaction, you're more likely to be social. The good feeling will come from a feeling that you were successful, made a good impression. The pandemic will be over in a while. Good way to meet people - be a joiner. For example, if you can find a volunteer job that suits you it can be a real win-win - a sense of achievement, contacts with people, a chance to make friends. How about a pet? This helps a lot of people. Not necessarily a dog. You might be a hamster person.

In some ways, radio and TV can help a little. Psychologists say that shows with real conversations are better for lonely people than fiction.
