Pregnant female cat getting aggressive with her son?

Recently my pregnant female cat has been getting aggressive and hissing at her son. He’s a few months old already and neither of them are fixed but we are planning to get the boy fixed in a few weeks. Is there a reason she is suddenly getting so aggressive? Sometimes she is aggressive towards me too and her son just runs away and doesn’t fight back. They used to bind well and sleep together but as of now not so much.

You should rehome the male, the female is frightened that the male will attack the kittens once they are born, she does not view him as her son anymore, and i hope her son is not the father of the kittens! he may well father the next lot and give you deformed kittens unless you get a grip and do something, either have the male neutered at once, or better still rehome him.

Intact male cats frequently kill kittens.

A pregnant or nursing female will generally chase them away.

Cats do not continue the parent/child bond beyond weaning.

Doubtless because he's no longer her dependant kitten but a young cat in his own right. She's got other things on her mind now she's pregnant again.  Cats don't view family as we do. To us, our offspring will always be our sons and daughters, to cats once they're no longer kittens they're often just another cat though they may or may not remain friendly.
