The only way Australia can solve it's fruit picking crisis is by allowing those on Centrelink to retain their benefits.  .. .. ..?

And pocket their farmwork income without declaring it..T or F...?

As a general rule money will always motivate people, travelling hundreds or thousands of kilometres for low paid work is just never going to be realistic, the costs of travel and accommodation could be more than what a person could earn,. Recently the government announced a payment of up to $6,000 for fruit pickers to cover stuff like accommodation, car hire and work clothing, but if you read carefully what can be claimed and what cannot its really not a good deal and few applied for it, as you say if Centrelink increased the amount they could earn by a few hundred bucks each week there would be a rush to take those jobs, however any industry that depends entirely on government subsidies is doomed to fail, just wait a few weeks and the supermarkets will be importing their berries from other countries and the farmers crops will be left to rot

If the government was really serious fruit pickers wouldn't be paying any income tax.

If I was on the dole it wouldn't be because I couldn't get a job, it would be because I didn't want to work 😮

So why would I want to pick fruit.
