Since winning the champions league with Liverpool in 2005, what has Rafa Benitez done to warrant his reputation?

Seen a few comments on here bigging him up. What's he actually done in the last 15 years to warrant this? He took inter from champions League winners to 5th, spent loads at Napoli and failed to win the title, failed at real Madrid, and most of his signings as Newcastle boss were not great. How does he still have the reputation of being a top quality manager?

Update:

Honestly with the money Ashley did give him did he spend it well enough to warrant more? He spent £143.6 million at Newcastle.

Update 2:

Also wasn't a dig at you or Ryan, I just don't get how he has the reputation. His transfer record overall at any club ain't great and his last season at Liverpool was horrendous.

Update 3:

Gave Martin the best answer, well argued opinion

Ive big him up due to his reputation in EPL I agree he failed at those other clubs but at Newcastle if Ashley would had backed Rafa with serious cash I would agree with Ryan in previous question (should hassenhuttl be sacked) that he would had got Newcastle possibly into Europa League.

Edit..I just think Rafa is a better manager than some in premier League Adam.Agree or not it is my opinion mate.

He built a fantastic team that went a good few seasons finishing always in top 4 places and occasionaly challening for the title in each of them seasons.

After the 2004-05 season when we won the Champions LEague with Rafa, we finished regularly in top 4 in each of the following seasoins:

    2005-06

    2006-07

    2007-08

    2008-09

were good years under Rafa though we never won a title, we did make good £££ by regularly qualifying and performing well in the CL.

Add to this we had Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso and a Stevie G in his PEAK years.  If we had Suarez in that team we'd have won a title possibly but he enter the scene later in the next coming decade.

Rafa was great, he made us competitive and on our day we could take points off of any of the top 4.

The old top four of that decade was Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Usually the title and runners up spot got decided by Man U and Chelsea but they had to work hard for those as both Arsenal and ourselvres were right behind them and only had our selves to blame when we didnt finish above them in the league, thats just how it goes - most consistent and strong team would go on and win the league.
