I dont use Splenda in baking, because its super sweet and you only use 1/2 as much or less than natural sugar, then the texture in the baking is different and could effect the baking outcome.
I use Splenda in hot drinks or custard mix for french toast or bread & butter pudding.

In the old days, we would make rock candy with a simple sugar base, a pencil, a string and a plastic weight to hold the string down. And then wait a day or two.
I guess with fake sugar it is different now.

Splenda is great if you want to ruin your health! Not only does it cut down on the good gut bacteria that makes for a strong immune system, but it has been linked to certain types of cancer..
I use Stevia - stevia is not an artificial sweetener, it is an all-natural herb, and the leaves are 32 times sweeter than sugar. They grind up the leaves.. you can buy it at the health food store. It has been used for thousands of years, and has no known side-effects. Yes, it is expensive, but you use very little and you are worth it! As for cooking, it isn't really a good substitute for sugar - you don't have the volume needed for most recipes. I used stevia to sweeten coffee, hot chocolate, tea, yogurt, smoothies, put on fruit, and if there is just a little bit of sugar asked for in a recipe, such as a couple tablespoons in a bread, you could use the stevia too..
One last word on artificial sweeteners - I used to be quite overweight, so I drank diet soda.. that stuff is addictive, and so I ended up drinking a huge bottle every day.. why not, I thought, it is great, and is calorie free! My weight never budged.. then I read about the harm that artificial sugars do, and cold turkey, I stopped drinking the diet soda - and right away started to lose weight. I have no reason to lie to you.. I lost 10 lbs in a very short period of time, and all I did was give up diet soda.. so, how is that possible?! I did some reading and it turns out that artificial sugars increase your appetite. To this day, I have never been as heavy as I was then, and that was decades ago!
Artificial sugars are bad news, all round.. if you have poor gut bacteria, then you have a poor immune system, it is just that simple, and having a poor immune system opens you up to all sorts of disease.. https://www.womenshealthnetwork.com/nutrition/the-...

For most candy sugar is a large part of the recipe. If you substitute Splenda the amount is very small. So what do you put in in its place?
