I have macular degeneration, got it from my father, it's where the retina comes 'unhooked' from the macula at the back of the eye ball.  Doctors put a hollow needle into the goo inside my eyeball and drained it all out, and then 'welded' the retina back onto the macula.  The goo slowly was refilled by the body.  They had to do that to BOTH eyeballs.  Vision is a little 'wiggly', but I can still see !!!
