Why does Dublin look like so run down? ?

You must be joking. Parts of North London make the worst parts of Dublin look like Monaco. Worse than New York City? I take it you've never been to the South Bronx. And there are parts of Paris that even the police won't go. Yes, parts of Dublin are gritty, but they're nowhere near as dangerous as the rough areas in the other cities you listed. Dublin is also far smaller in area, so it's much more condensed, which makes it feel as though the grittier parts of the city are larger than they actually are. When I was growing up in Waterford - which was a rough enough place itself back in those days, everybody knew how bad North Dublin was. Then Limerick became the worst. Now the bad parts of each are probably about the same, perhaps Limerick is a tad more dangerous, but not by much. Practically every sizable city in Britain and Ireland is either largely shite or considerably shite - Belfast, Birmingham, Blackpool, Bradford, Bristol, Dublin, Glasgow, Leeds, Limerick, London, Luton, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sunderland, Watford, I could go on.  

Living in Dublin, I agree with you. We have drug users and homeless people. We elected a coalition government largely because we felt this was something that needed to be dealt with. We want to see an increase in housing stock, an improvement in social services to help these people, and we care a great deal about the plight of others.

What we don't do is hide it away so as not to offend you. Every city you mentioned has similar problems but police push people out to the dark recesses of the city ... out of sight, out of mind, nothing to see here, isn't it wonderful ...

We're not going to hide the social inequity or drug problems that exist in our city because it forces us to deal with it, rather than sweep it under the carpet.

Orthodoxy = the only true faith; Roman Catholics tried one cup - one spoon ritual and got sick with Bubonic plague; if heresy enters Orthodox monastery then monks/nuns will get sick with flu/tuberculosis (for instance); Orthodox churches who closed for COVID or had disposable cups/spoons or dipped spoon into alcohol are no longer brides of Christ (now they serve Satan and honor Satan's new COVID religion).
