Why doesn't Instagram allow you to change your password without knowing your previous password? I think my account was hacked.?

This being Yahoo, and not instagram no one can speak for their security or login politices. Typically if you're IN your account in order to change your password, you had to have gotten into your account by KNOWING your password. If your account was hacked and someone changed your password, you wouldn't be able to get into your account to the place to change it.

If you need to RESET your password because you were locked out of your account, that's a different issue (and doesn't typically require that you know your previous password, but will send a security code to your phone or email to verify you have the authority to request the password be reset. .
