I think this woman I met on a lesbian dating site tried to scam me ?

A woman I met on a Lesbian dating app almost two weeks ago who I thought I really liked and started being in a relationship with  was asking me for money, first she told me she only needed two dollars only to turn around and say it was a mistake then said she needed $300 then again saying it was $2000. She told me it was to help her pay for her permanent visa residency to live in Australia as she apparently only just moved here from Spain before the pandemic and told me she needed help paying her house bill etc plus also needed money so she could travel to come see me in Melbourne as she lives in Sydney supposedly. She said that she was having issues setting up a bank account and even asked me to get one set up for her before she started asking me for money. Although I suggested to her to try calling centrelink or salvation army to help her or create a gofundme page but she refused and kept asking me for the money, I even offered to put in a care request to my church to help her with her finances and give them her contact details but she immediately assumed that I was going to get the money from my church and send it to her. Thing is she knew I was on the disability pension and didn’t have that kind of money but she kept asking me anyway, I feel like she was trying to take advantage of me and only wanted my money although she claimed she would pay me back. I knew she was breadcrumbing me for a reason, I just couldn’t put my finger on it at the time but now I know why.

If you met someone online, and they asked for money, it IS a scam.

Any on-line dating site is a haven for scammers. You picked up on it when the person upped the ante on their request. Another Anon suggested that the scammer was a guy in Nigeria. Maybe, some countries have "cottage industry" training centres for scammers.
