DRY ROT means GET NEW TIRES! the RUBBER is old probably SHOT. EITHER WAY it is NO LONGER SAFE to drive with them! You may even have a BELT that is coming LOOSE!  Stick with GREEN tires! Also known as FUEL EFFICIENT ones! My MICHELIN HARMONY tires had a warranty to 80,000 miles!

That is a safety issue, cracks are caused by running tiers either to much air pressure or not enough or old man SUN cooking them; In any of these case you should really think of getting NEW TIERS YESTERDAY!

I did not buy them cracked.  So this is an aging issue. Depending on sun exposure(as they crack faster as they dry out in the sun) 7 years is about the life of a tire.

Small cracks on the tread blocks of the tyre are a sign of normal wear and tear and aren't generally anything that you need to worry about. Deeper cracks could be a sign that the tyre is getting to the end of its useful life and may mean there's a risk of the tread separating from the rest of the tyre.

No and in the UK it is a defect so is driving with Tyres over 10 years old

remember Your car Your Life and the Life of the strangers you take with you when your Tyres explode because they are too Old

This is a cut and paste "Tyreoola"

Experts claim that a tyre older than five years would need replacement as the rubber loses its suppleness through the drying out of moisture and oils. A tyre’s age can be identified by checking the manufacture date stamped on the sidewall, usually in the form of a four-digit number, where the first two digits represent the week of manufacture and the last two digits the year.

A good set of wheels have a big role in giving you a stable ride, sure fire handling and improved fuel economy. The state of the rubber your vehicle rides on can also mean confident braking and a reassured drive. Check your tyres regularly, and if there are signs of wear and tear you know it's time to change them. Ford and GM say 6 and all car companies say replace after 10 years

I purchased a 2002 VW Bora V5 in 2018 took it to my Local tyre company and had 5 new tyres fitted $400 for Peace of Mind is cheap

Yes - it means they are old, worn out, and you shouldn't be driving on them.

If you've got cracking on your tires, you need to get that thing towed to a tire shop.

Yes, certain tires will crack more easily than others (Chinese made tires were culprits for awhile- had Bridgestone tires that went to crap in about 5 yrs). Small fissures are nothing to worry about but deeper longer cracks means tires should be replaced.

It is if they are old. It also means time to change the tires, like yesterday as they are now dangerous.

No, it means you are too heavy to use the vehicle, especially if it's a moped. One day they will pop as you're going along.
