I saw the terrible crash Tiger Woods was in! I hope he will be all right! How come in a rollover the front airbags don't deploy?

He is already talking and coherent. Compound lag fracture, he survived it, but will need a year or more of physical therapy. He is already done with surgeries.

THEY DID deploy! It is NOT good advertising for CHRYSLER< though as he was drivign a CHRYSLER MINI VAN! It broke his LEG in THREE or FORU PLACES< so the FLOOR BOARDS cam into the cabin! NOT GOOD! SORRY CHRYSLER! i wil stick to my AUDIS and BMNW cars BYE NOW!

the airbags did  deploy , question is was he speeding to cause that much damage . proves a hyundia are safe in a serious accident .thats where his car is from ..

I believe they need a 9 iron to get the driver out.  And then putt him in an ambulance cause he had a busted leg.  I use my arms to steer, so he drives funny.

The air bags did deploy, that was being reported yesterday. 

Because airbags are supposed to deploy when necessary to keep you alive.  If they don't deploy and you die, that means that they didn't need to deploy to save your life, so it's good that they didn't deploy.  Whenever an airbag deploys, it injures the person, even if the accident didn't, so it's usually better for it not to deploy.

Modern airbags only deploy if the algorithm programmed into

 the airbag controller decides that they will be more good than harm. 

So if they didn’t detonate it was because the computer identified that they would offer no useful protection or that they would cause injuries greater than the ones they would have otherwise attempted to prevent.

Reports say that Woods has serious leg injuries. Any airbag designed to prevent injuries to the upper body couldn’t prevent that.
