Should I Give Up On Singing?

Pursue music in your spare time.

But get the training/education for a REAL job that will keep a roof over your head and food in your belly.

Almost NO ONE makes a living off of music .. compared to how many millions of people WANT to.  And I'm not talking about being rich and famous .. even just being PAID enough to live on is extremely unlikely.

The only people I know who make money off music are a voice instructor with a B.A. in vocal music, and one of her students who sings in the chorus of our city's opera productions .. but has a full-time job in something entirely different that supports him.  

And a friend devoted to music and her bf too ... she busks in the subway, he gets occasional gigs, and the tiny old house they live in was a gift, mortgage-free, from her father.  They can't afford a car.

From way back when I was younger, the other one I know who did something with music leads a church choir but doesn't get paid for it.  

And my sister's ex-bf ... went on to get a degree in Engineering since he couldn't make money in music .. he DOES have a band but it's not enough to support him.

And ALL of these people have/had TALENT.

    I will send you links to videos to help with your singing. I wish someone had gave me advice and help when I was younger too. I play piano and was a singer, but no one  actually liked me in this ignorant, greedy,  small towns in ohio. I would try to give yourself professional and personal goals outside of music, you will find it much more fulfilling. Plus, it will make it easier for you to survive the big bad world. Also, look up camping and bushcraft videos in case you or your bands need help or to survive on your own.

   I wish someone had helped me when I was younger, I think a huge opportunity as being a performer , concert pianist, and singer/songwriter was lost for me, because my family didn't see what good could come out of it. I was mislead so much, so keep to your christian faith, and keep in mind, people willry to "unfavor" try to steal from you, use you, steal your blessings, promises, and protections from The Lord, so be wise, be careful, and if think someone hypnotized you, dump them, if you can. 

   Make sure people are telling you the truth too. Because they screw women out of the money more and the contracts more and out of the residusals, and royalties much more often than the men and now the "in" thing is to have 13th Amendment breaking contracts in music at the professional levels. 

My advice, if you're serious about being a performer, is perform every chance ya get- (I don't care if it's on a Broadway stage, in a pub band, busking on the streets, on the karaoke or just at a mate's birthday party, just get out there and do your thing, every opportunity ya get!) That's how ya learn your craft and improve at what you're doing. Then, try and get a professional demo C.D. made of you singing and take it round various pubs and record labels. Come what may, sweet, I wish you all the luck in the world. 

Trust me when I say this but, do not let go of your dreams now. You're still young& you've got a long way to go. If you give up now, you will regret it when you're older. If you want to be a singer, you can do it! Even if you don't make a lot of money, or not even the bare minimum, just keep trying and improving infinitely. Don't worry if you hate your own voice, or think your singing is basic. Sometimes, that's just an inevitable struggle of being an artist. Remember that there is someone out there that thinks your voice is the most delightful sound in the music industry. You've even got talent as a guitarist! Who cares if you mess up on stage? Just keep vibing, playing, and live with the crowd. You were always meant to be a musician. You are the reason why your future fans will aspire to be artists, so keep working and get up every time you fall.

If it's your dream. Don't give up on it. Follow your dreams.

Whether you should give up singing or anything else should be your decision to make after careful deliberation, not some stranger who doesn't know anything about you.

Taker voice training lessons. i have seen it do wonders for some people. 

If it was easy, everyone would do it.

fame comes much later to only a select few and should never be your first focus. first, you should have passion for signing whether fame comes or not. if you do have passion, your question is a moot point and you will sing regardless. search Wikipedia how famous singers started their life at the bottom without fame and worked their way up and follow their footsteps. location matters for the entertainment industry. you should live close to other people who work in the entertainment industry to get noticed and picked up and go to their events and associate their circles. usually, most signers have a born talent it's not like a skill you can learn by going to school. that's why it's better to have talents than skills. skills can be learned and you are replaceable with another. talents are gifted at birth and only you can do it. let's take a famous singer like Michael Jackson. can someone else sing his songs after years of practice? yes but not of the same caliber. he owns his songs. The same is true for sports

No one can make that decision for you. You say you've “always loved singing” but then list lots of things you don't like about it.

All I can say is, if you enjoy it continue, if you don't stop. It's no big deal either way. You can stop any time you want, and when you've stopped you can start again, any time you want.
