Describe the procedure for changing the engine oil and filter?

Depends on the engine and the type of change. A basic DIY job usually involves running the engine for a bit, taking the oil plug out, rushing to get a drip tray in place, finding a bigger drip tray once first once fills up. Spill drip tray. Lie in damp oil patch looking for filter. Realise filter is accessable from top of engine. Stab screwdriver through filter after trying all other methods of removal. Replace filter. Replace oil plug. Fill with oil to prescibed level. Done. If your mechanic does this, get a new one.
