    a lot

    BBC:

Cambridge researchers say it consumes around 121 terawatt-hours (TWh) a year.  Bitcoin uses more electricity annually than the whole of Argentina.

    in terms of power, 121 terawatt-hours/yr x 1 yr/8766 hrs = 13.8 GW

in comparison, What is U.S. electricity generation? In 2019, about 4,127 billion kilowatthours (kWh) (or about 4.13 trillion kWh) of electricity were generated at utility-scale electricity generation facilities in the United States.

    to correct the units:

    4.13 trillion kWh = 4130 terawatt-hours

    4130 terawatt-hours / year x 1 yr/8766 hrs = 471 GW
