Do you think there might be another earth with the same atmosphere, environment and same creatures as this of ours?

Even if there was a planet with all the same physical characteristics there would be no likelihood that it would have evolved the same. Divergent evolution guarantees that.  Just look how different a person is in the USA compared to other countries.  We cannot even understand each other.

I do not dispute there may be other planets hospitable to life but not one that is exactly like Earth.

If there even was a planet like earth I do not think it would have the same lifeforms as it would require exactly the same events at the same time which is more the stuff of science fiction than reality.

Even if on this planet we could press STOP on evolution and then REWIND all the way to the beginning there is absolutely no guarantee that evolution would produce exactly the same species again and in the same order.

And even if there was, it would be so far away we could never detect it.

Well... two lines of thought here... If you look at all the creatures/plants alive today (including us) - we're all the product of evolution and selection.  Given two identical planets, identical atmospheres, elements, and distance from their identical stars, they could have completely different sets of animals and plants.  Random chance & responses have led to the life forms we see on Earth today, and it's likely that different chances and occurrences would happen on another planet, leading to creatures and plants that look much different.  So - from space, we may see "Earth 2", but we could find a completely different set of creatures upon landing....

Then, there's this... while the evolution and path life may take are different on different planets, it's *possible* that creatures on another planet would eventually look similar to what we find on Earth, because that's the best "solution" for some problems... so, you'd find Giraffe-like creatures that can eat leaves off tall tree-like plants, and you'd find horse-like creatures that the more intelligent species would use for transportation...  Of course, they may all be *reptiles* - having scales instead of skin - but their structure and form possibly *could* be formed by parallel forces that occurred on Earth. 

My thought is - with the diversity of life on *this* planet (Squids, eels, ants, elephants, man) - I would bet there'd be a completely different set of animals on this other planet... 

No. Earth is unique. Yes, there probably are many Earth LIKE planets, but one exactly like Earth is almost impossible because of entropy, chaos theory and a googleplex of butterfly effects.

Absolutely identical in the things you mention, every animal species identical out of the millions of species, NO, the odds are one in many trillions ... a very large number
