Can Republicans at least elect Senators who can read?
Ron Johnson can't get one of his handlers to read the America Rescue Act bill to him I guess.

That Act has been available online for days; why should everyone else be penalized when repubs fail to do their homework? https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house...

Bills are often written by special interest groups and then sponsored by elected officials who agree with the basic premise. They often reject legislation the same way. Since the public doesn’t read these usually lengthy documents, politicians can lie about what’s in them to play to their base. I remember reading an AARP article in 2009 or so about the three myths about the ACA being pushed by Republicans. I guess at least a few seniors actually read the ACA. The ACA remains widely popular.
You may recall how republicans falsely claimed anywhere from 3-9% of the American Rescue Act only went to Covid relief. Actually almost all money designated in the ARA has gone to Covid relief and those states, cities, small businesses, schools and individuals most effected by the pandemic. The bill enjoys wide popularity, 75% including 45% of Republican voters.
In each case not one Republican voted for either bill. They are constantly out of touch with the majority of Americans.

Reading Bills prior to passing them is something quite new in Congress, I gather?
Usually they just rubber stamp whatever the lobbyists wrote.
