Why are teachers paid the same for "Remote Learning"?

I understand the frustration. My tuition actually increased when we shifted to online learning which has been maddening given that I can't access the same campus resources I would be able to pre-COVID. However, online learning poses unique challenges that the teachers may not have been equipped for. It requires a reliable internet connection, which might mean upgrading plans or changing ISPs for some, it requires learning all new programs, having a dedicated space in your home free from distraction, and more. Online learning is harder for everyone who has been used to on-campus education, and it's only fair that a teacher isn't penalized for that shift. Honestly, they should be paid more, or at least compensated for any internet or tech upgrades they needed to make.

You're right.  It's not comparable.  It's much harder, so they should be paid more.

No, it is not comparable. It is a lot more work for the teachers. They should make more money.

effective remote learning is much more difficult.  alas, we don't know a huge amount about how to do it, nor are the vast majority of teachers trained to do it.  my solution would be to declare a "do over" for the entire missed school year after in person schooling begins again

It's much more work than teaching face to face. Teachers had to learn new technology, and devise ways to keep students actively engaged. I don't think it's as effective for students, but it's definitely more work for teachers, and most of them would tell you that they would much rather be back in the classroom.

The people who work for businesses and have been working from home are being paid the same amount, too. Why do you only want to attack teachers?
